Need to Get Back to This Place

Mon Nov 16, 2009, 11:27 AM
It's been a long time, again, since I've submitted anything or wrote a blog on DA. Guess it's time to turn over a new leaf and get back to it.
Speaking of turning leaves, I'm gettin' ready to go out and clean my gutters so the rain can go down the downspouts rather than over the sides as it has been for a few weeks.
My nephew *JoeM5952 just joined DA. Give him a look if you will. Looks like he's a promising new photographer emerging on the scene.
Been enjoying my daughter's blog lately ( `devilicious )as well.
Well, out to the gutters before the rain starts again. Promise to write more later.

It's that Time again !!

Thought I oughta get back on DA and try to blog with some regularity.
My kid just turned 42 and I'll be
"THE BIG SIX-0" ~ with a capital "0H MY g0d!!"
this Saturday.
Life has been pretty good, what with the regular job and all.
I feel very lucky to have what I have.

Gonna make a few B'day resolutions to:
Lose a little weight!
Play more music!
Spend wisely!
Learn new skills!
Go to the dentist.
Oh yeah!
Win the fucking lottery!!

I hope my friends on DA remember me. My pics will mostly be cell phone pics for now as that's what I have with me all of the time. I've always been a little more about content and meaning than technical excellence anyway.

I'll write more when I can. Trying to make it a weekly thing for sure.
Later!

Kinks - Lola Lyrics

I met her in a club down in old Soho where they
drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry
cola C-O-L-A cola
she walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said
Lola L-O-L-A Lola Lo lo lo lo Lo - la

Well I'm not the world's most physical guy
But when she sqeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine
Oh my Lola la-la-la-la Lola
Well I'm not dumb but I can't understand
Why she walked like a woman but talked like a man
Oh my Lola la-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola

Well, we drank champagne and danced all night
Under electric candle light
She picked me up and sat me on her knee
and said "dear boy won't you come home with me?"
Well, I'm not the world's most passionate guy,
but when I looked in her eyes, well I almost fell for my
Lola Lo lo lo lo Lo - la Lo lo lo lo Lo - la
Lola Lo lo lo lo Lo - la Lo lo lo lo Lo - la

I pushed her away
I walked to the door
I fell to the floor
I got down on my knees
Then I looked at her and she at me

Well that's the way that I want it to stay
And I always want it to be that way for my Lola
La-la-la-la Lola
Girl will be boys and boys will be girls
It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world except for Lola
La-la-la-la Lola

CHORUS #2:
Well I left home just a week before
And I'd never ever kissed a woman before
But Lola smiled and took me by the hand
And said "Dear boy, I'm gonna make you a man"

Well I'm not the world's most masculine man
But I know what I am. I'm a man, I'm a man!
And so is Lola!
La-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola
Lola la-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola

Hi, Everybody!
I guess it’s about time I updated this journal and got back into the mix here at DA. I apologize to everyone for the long sabatical. Things have been happening at such a rapid pace in my life that it seems like it’s been “not THAT long”.
I have of course stayed in contact with my daughter (the lovely and much renowned :icondevilicious: ) whom I love very much. She and her family are doing very well and I am so proud of her and her accomplishments both here and in the real world.
My significant other Ellana has a new, better job and is performing outstandingly well at it. She has stood by me through thick and thin for well over a decade now. She is the very focus of my existence and I love her soooooooooooo much!
I finally have bid adieu to the world of the self-inflicted under employed and have a real job now as a Senior Technical Service Rep for HP, supporting their All-In-One printer line.
It’s really amazing how one can take a seemingly huge pay cut and actually have more. There never was enough before for frivolous things like retirement or health insurance and “What the hell is paid time off, anyway!”.
I love my new gig and have managed to move up a good bit in a relatively short amount of time.
Anyhoooooo! I’m gonna make it a New Year’s Resolution to get back on DA with both journals and photographs on a regular basis.
Thanks to all of you who have left me on your friends list and the rest of you…well, I guess you’re not reading this… …are you?
I also want to thank my three children of the feline variety, Timone, Nina, and Lola, for their undying patience and loyalty.
The funniest thing that's happened….We took Lola, named after the principal character in the Ray Davies (The Kinks) song of the same name and who was six months old, to be spayed. After a little bit we got a call from the vet …”It seems your little Lola can't be spayed Lola's a male!!!
We’re still laughing about that one . We got him fixed anyway.
Oh, well…As the song goes…..

Well I'm not the world's most masculine man
But I know what I am. I'm a man, I'm a man!
And so is Lola!
La-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola
Lola la-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola

Later,
Buck

Sorry to everybody that it's been such a great long time since I've commented or entered a journal.
Lots of news and updates coming very soon!
I guaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaranty it!
Target date for major update is tomorrow!

Today is the anniversary of John Lennon's assassination.
A sad day for everyone.

IMAGINE if he were still here with us.

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Later!!
Buck

Sent the following email a year ago looking to reconnect with my daughter whom I hadn't seen or spoken to in three decades:

Hey!
Sent you a couple of emails but am just covering my bases trying this one.
Sent a couple of pics to you at maryarcher.com.
I'm sure we'll connect soon.

Received this reply:

I am absolutely in shock, as you can imagine. I am also trying to pinch myself to see if its true - that you've finally contacted me, open to wanting to have me in your life in some way. If you saw my site then you saw that you have a grandson - Alex, about 18 months old.

I saw you last at 8 years old (31 years ago), talked to you on the phone last around the age of 10 (29 years ago) and heard from you last via a letter after Mom's father died in my early 20's, (about 15 years ago). So I must ask - what's going on that's prompted this? (and I'm very happy about it and open)

I'll stop now - I could write a novel. I'm healthy, happy, married with a son, still live in Dallas, just turned 39 in March (as you know). You've seen photos of me and my son and my husband on my site by now - but I'll send one anyway. When I get home tonight I'll check out the photos you sent me.

I am truly just floored. Are you still in Oregon? Married? Ever have any kids? Etc.

Love you,
NeNe

Truly one of the high points in my life.
Yay!!:D
